One-page resume template
Compact is for people with a lot to say and a page to say it on. It keeps one column and standard headings, then tightens the spacing so a long career fits without shrinking the text to nothing.
Who it is for
- Experienced candidates trying to keep a long history to one page
- Roles where a quick scan matters more than design, such as engineering, finance and operations
- Anyone with many short roles, certifications or skills to list
How it is laid out
- Your name on the left and your contact details stacked on the right
- Small, spaced section headings, each with a thin rule underneath
- Job title and company on one line, with the dates pushed to the right edge
- Tight bullet lists under each role
- Skills grouped on labelled rows, such as Languages and Systems
Tips for this template
- Give your most recent roles the most bullets and older roles one or two.
- Group skills by kind on labelled rows instead of one long list.
- Cut anything that does not help with the job you are applying to. Dense does not mean everything.
- If it spills onto a second page, trim before you shrink the font.
Worth knowing
A dense page is harder to read than an airy one. Keep bullets short, and let the template’s tight spacing do the work rather than adding more words.
Common questions
Is Compact free?
Yes. It is one of the free templates.
Will it really fit on one page?
It fits more than most templates, but that depends on how much you write. Keep to short bullets and you should manage a long career on one page, or two at most.
Is it ATS-friendly?
It uses one column, standard headings and real text, the same things that make ATS Classic readable. You can check your own file with the free ATS checker.
