ATS-friendly resume template
ATS Classic is the template to pick when you want nothing to get in the way. One column, a centred name, standard section headings and real, selectable text. It is the safest choice when you are not sure how an employer’s system will read your file.
Who it is for
- Applying to large employers and recruiters that screen applications with software
- Most office, business, operations, marketing and engineering roles
- Anyone who would rather have a clean page than a clever one
How it is laid out
- One column from top to bottom, so there is a single reading order
- Your name, title and contact details centred at the top
- Section headings in spaced capitals on the left, such as Profile and Experience
- Dates in a narrow left column, with job titles and bullets beside them
- Bold opening words in bullets, so a skim lands on what you did
Tips for this template
- Keep the headings as they are. Experience, Education and Skills are the words systems look for.
- Start each bullet with what you did, then the result. Use a real figure only where you have one.
- Use one date style throughout, such as "Nov 2022".
- Run the finished PDF through the free ATS checker to see how a system reads it.
Worth knowing
This template has no accent colours or side panels, by design. If you want a more distinctive look, other templates in Resumeaze trade some of that plainness for style.
Common questions
Is ATS Classic free?
Yes. It is one of the free templates, so you can use it on the free plan.
Why does it have only one column?
A single column gives a system one reading order, so your jobs and dates stay in the right place. Multi-column layouts are where text most often gets scrambled.
Can I change the colours?
No. ATS Classic is plain black and white on purpose.
