What to do
- For each project, say the decision it supported. A dashboard is a tool; a pricing change is an outcome.
- Name who used your work and how many people. It shows reach.
- Put SQL and your main tools in both your skills and your bullets.
- Say how much data you handled only if it is impressive and true.
What to avoid
- Listing software ("Excel, Tableau") with nothing showing what you did with it.
- Vague claims such as "provided insights". Name the insight.
- Skipping communication. Analysts are hired to be understood.

Common questions
Which skills matter most on a data analyst resume?
SQL first, then a visualisation tool and some Python or R. Show each one in a bullet, not only in a list.
Should I include a portfolio?
Yes if you are early in your career or changing fields. Link two or three projects with a clear question and answer.
How do I show impact without exact numbers?
Describe the change in plain words, such as which team stopped doing a task by hand. Leave out a figure you cannot back up.
