Best free ATS resume checkers, compared
Most ATS resume checkers are free to try and paid to use properly. The differences that matter are small: whether you need an account, how much the free version shows, and what it actually checks. Here is how five compare, so you can pick the one that fits.

Why Resumeaze
What you get with the Resumeaze checker
Paste your text or upload a PDF and see the whole result. No email, no sign-up and no card.
The same file always scores the same
The checks are fixed rules, not AI, so when you fix something and re-check, the score changes for a reason you can see.
Your resume is not kept
The file is read to run the checks and dropped when the result is sent back.
Three more free tools, also with no sign-up
Match a resume to a job posting, rewrite a weak bullet point and draft a cover letter opening.
Import the resume into the Resumeaze builder and use ATS Classic, a free one-column template built to read cleanly as text.

Each tool in detail
ResumeazeOurs
Open the checker- Account
- No account. Upload a PDF or paste the text.
- What is free
- The whole checker is free, with no card. There is a fair-use limit of a few scans an hour per address. Your file is read for the check and not stored.
- What it checks
- Eight fixed-rule checks: readable text, standard sections, contact details, dates, bullets and numbers, symbols, length and keywords. The same file always gets the same result. Add a job posting to see which of its stressed terms you use.
- What costs extra
- The checker is free. Fixing the resume in the Resumeaze builder needs an account, and some templates are on the Pro plan.
- Limits
- It checks rules, not quality. It does not judge your writing, flag bias or benchmark seniority, and it cannot see columns or fonts in a file.
- Best for
- A fast, private first check with no sign-up, and a list of what to fix.
Enhancv
Read their page- Account
- Its page does not say whether an account or email is needed before the report.
- What is free
- A free AI resume checker. Upload a PDF or DOCX of up to 2 MB.
- What it checks
- 27 checks in seven groups: ATS essentials, resume sections, content, job tailoring, recruiter red flags, bias and discrimination, and seniority and impact.
- What costs extra
- A Pro version goes deeper on how a person would judge the resume, such as age bias, employment gaps, career progression and leadership signals.
- Limits
- Some of the deeper groups are in the paid version.
- Best for
- A broad, recruiter-style review of the resume, beyond whether a system can read it.
Jobscan
Read their page- Account
- Its scan buttons lead to sign-up pages. The home page does not state outright that an account is required.
- What is free
- A free plan with a limited number of scans each month. Its own blog describes the amount as a few. Some premium tools are limited.
- What it checks
- Compares your resume with a specific job posting and shows the keywords and skills you are missing. It says it detects which applicant tracking system a posting uses and tailors its advice to it.
- What costs extra
- A Premium plan removes the free limits. It also offers a 7-day Premium trial.
- Limits
- The free scan count is limited, so it suits a few applications rather than many.
- Best for
- Tailoring one resume to one posting at a time, with advice tied to that posting.
Resume Worded
Read their page- Account
- Its upload button opens a sign-up prompt that says to create a free account to continue.
- What is free
- A free review with a score out of 100 and line-by-line feedback. It says you can re-upload as many times as you want. English resumes only, PDF or DOCX up to 2 MB.
- What it checks
- More than 30 checks behind the score, covering the content of the resume line by line.
- What costs extra
- It offers a Pro plan. Its home page does not state the price or what Pro adds.
- Limits
- You need a free account first, and the page does not say which feedback is paid.
- Best for
- Line-by-line writing feedback with a score you can improve by re-uploading.
Rezi
Read their page- Account
- Its free plan links to a sign-up page. It says no card is required to begin.
- What is free
- A $0 plan with one resume, three PDF downloads and a limited Rezi Score. Keyword targeting and live content analysis are limited.
- What it checks
- A score and keyword targeting built into its resume builder, so the check works on the resume you build there.
- What costs extra
- Pro is $29 a month and Lifetime is $149 once, per its pricing page. These unlock the full score and keyword tools.
- Limits
- The full score and keyword tools are paid. The free plan is built around one resume.
- Best for
- People who want to build the resume and score it in the same place.
Resumeaze comes first because this is our site. The other tools follow in alphabetical order. We did not include Zety. Its checker page did not load when we tried to read it, and we would rather leave a tool out than describe it from a third party’s summary. We will add it once we can read its own page.

Open the toolCommon questions
Which ATS checker is the most accurate?
None of them can be, because no checker can see how a particular employer has set up its system. They estimate how readable your file is and how well it matches a posting. Use the score to find things to fix, not as a prediction.
Do I need to pay for an ATS resume checker?
Not to find the main problems. Each tool above has a free way to get a result. Paid plans mostly add more scans, deeper checks or the full report.
Why do scores differ between tools?
Each tool measures different things and weights them differently. A score from one tool is not comparable with another’s, so compare the issues they list, not the numbers.
Are these prices current?
They were what each company’s own page showed on the date at the top of this page. Plans and limits change, so check the company’s page before you pay.
How do I tell you something is out of date?
Write to us through the support page. We re-read the sources and update the page, and we change the date when we do.
